As an author, I was thrilled to speak with Principal Elaine Obbink and hear how she and her teachers used The Temple Curtain for an all day school event on Good Friday at Monroe Christian School in Washington (state).
These creative educators read the book to their classes prior to Good Friday. On Good Friday, the classes (K-8) rotated to nine classrooms for activities related to my book. Each child made a book in the shape of a boat and added pictures as they progressed through the rooms.
The day culminated with chapel. They entered the chapel from darkness through a curtain, and saw a banner made by the 8th graders. This symbolized the tearing of the temple curtain when Jesus died. Students, teachers, and parents got teary eyed with the impact of the drama.
