A New Year

It's a new year and I begin it with hopes of spreading the word about my two books and editing and expanding another book.

Recently I read The Magic Swing to a group of Kindergarteners. They were wide-eyed when I held up the painting that was created for the cover and then showed them the actual book cover. A snow globe to help them understand the dome in Rainbow Land plus blowing up a balloon and releasing it to show how the children get back up to the magic swing from the ocean below helped them to understand and enjoy the story.

In March I'm looking forward to giving a presentation to a book club at a church in Peotone sharing some of the things I learned in the process of writing The Temple Curtain.

In the book I am editing and expanding now, Japanese Adventures, a girl must go to Japan to live with her aunt, uncle and cousins. She has various experiences that introduce her to the language and culture of Japan. I hope to add sections in the back to instruct readers in Japanese cooking, language, flower arranging and paper folding. I chose to write this book to use my experience in Japan when we lived there for 2 1/2 years many years ago.
